Bear Creek Community Church exists to help people experience a full and meaningful life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. - John 10:10 (NLT)
BEAR CREEK CORE VALUES
KINGDOM FIRST
The primary message of Jesus was that of declaring that God’s Kingdom is here - available, accessible and deserving to be our top priority. We will live as people who are citizens of God’s Kingdom. We prioritize our time, talent and treasure to be utilized to expand His Kingdom. We will always prioritize the advancement of God’s Kingdom over our own agenda and personal goals.
COMPASSION WITH ACTION
Many times in the Gospels the authors note the compassion that Jesus feels for the people he encounters. His compassion always moved Him to help. We want to be like Jesus. Recognizing that every individual is created in the image of God and deserving of dignity and care, we see people the way He sees them, with a tender heart and an intention to help.
AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY
Grounded in the teachings of Jesus, who modeled a life of love, unity, and sacrificial service, we strive to create an environment where people can come together in transparency, vulnerability, and mutual support, fostering an atmosphere of trust and authenticity. We believe that genuine fellowship and meaningful relationships are essential in living out our faith and effectively carrying out the Great Commission together.
RADICAL GENEROSITY
More than just a financial concept, our posture towards generosity encompasses an attitude of abundance, compassion, and sacrificial love that extends beyond traditional boundaries. We strive to emulate Jesus' example of pouring out ourselves for the betterment of others. We fully embrace the fact that we are merely stewards of all that God owns and that He has provided for us so that we can be a conduit of His blessing.
OUR MANTRAS:
God’s plan is not for you to be a better version of yourself, but a better reflection of Jesus.
“for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.” - Philippians 2:13
Being a follower of Jesus was never intended to be a solo sport. You were made to live and grow in relationship with others.
“so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” - Romans 12:5
We welcome all kinds of people and enjoy their presence.
“Jesus ate in Matthew’s house. Many men who gathered taxes and many who were sinners came to Matthew’s house and sat down with Jesus and His followers. The proud religious law-keepers saw this. They said to the followers of Jesus, “Why does your Teacher eat with men who gather taxes and with sinners?” Jesus heard them and said, “People who are well do not need a doctor.” - Matthew 9:10-12
We want to be a church known for our Kingdom commitment, not our seating capacity.
“‘Come, follow me,’ Jesus said, ‘and I will send you out to fish for people.’ At once they left their nets and followed him.” - Matthew 4:19-20
We’re all going through something. Let’s go through it together.
“Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” - Galatians 6:2
Surround yourself with people going the direction you need to go and you have a better chance of getting where you need to be.
“Some men came carrying a paralyzed man on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus. When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said, “Friend, your sins are forgiven.”” - Luke 5:18-20
